Travel Insurance:

Travel insurance is important before traveling to a new place especially when you are traveling for adventure. Travel insurance covers risks such as loss of personal belongings, and any unexpected expenses. Travel insurance also covers sudden medical emergencies such as accidents. It also covers high-altitude emergency evacuation in case of trekking. Travel insurance is not compulsory but highly recommended.

Medical Emergency:

If you face any serious medical emergency during your trekking program you will immediately evacuate the place through Helicopter Rescue which the traveler’s insurance company will cover. While trekking to the highlands of Nepal you may face minor health issues such as scratches, headaches, etc. For such a situation, your guide carries a well-equipped first aid kit, ensuring nothing happens to you.

High-Altitude Sickness:

During the Annapurna Circuit Yoga Trek, you will walk through gorgeous valleys, traditional villages, and thrilling highlands above 3,000m elevation. Altitude sickness is unpredictable; it can happen to anyone despite being physically and mentally fit. As you gain altitude, the chances of getting altitude sickness also slightly increase. To avoid getting altitude sickness you should drink 5-6 lt water per/day and food with high carbohydrates. Walking slowly and acclimatizing decreases the chances of getting altitude sickness. Focus on your breathing and maintain your walking pace.

Packing List Suggestions:

Having a good backpack and necessary gear makes trekking easier. It becomes more important if you are trekking at higher elevations. If you are wondering about what to pack for trekking to the Annapurna region, then you can check our complete guide on the Nepal Trekking Gear Checklist. While making a backpack, it is important to include clothing, essential items, and a first aid kit. In difficult times, a good backpack can be life-saving.

Do’s and Don’t:

  • Select the ideal time to travel.

  • Select a reputed trekking/ travel organization.

  • Training and getting ready for any kind of situation are necessary.

  • Efficient packing is the key. (Nepal trekking gear checklist)

  • Carry all the necessary paperwork (ACAP, Restricted area permit, and TIM card).

  • Maintaining body hydration is important while traveling to high elevations.

  • Having the proper personal gear makes your journey more enjoyable.

  • Ask for permission before taking pictures and videos of the locals.

  • Respect the culture and people of the area.

  • Travel for experience and not for the sake of traveling.

  • Don’t litter, put trash in its place.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How difficult is this trek and can a beginner participate in this?

This trek is considered to be of moderate to challenging difficulty level, as it takes you through one of the toughest trekking routes. During the trek, participants will encounter steep uphill and downhill sections at high elevations, adding an extra level of difficulty to the journey. The Annapurna Circuit Yoga Trek can be physically and mentally challenging, as it involves hiking through a high trekking pass above 5000m. This requires some basic trekking and hiking experience.

  • Where will you do Yoga during the trek?

Yoga requires concentration and focus, so it is recommended to practice in a quiet and open space. In Kathmandu, you will have the opportunity to practice yoga in the beautiful gardens and spacious halls of the hotel. During trekking days, you will have the opportunity to practice yoga in the front yards, open grounds, and empty spaces located around the villages. Yoga can be practiced in small spaces, such as a hotel room, without requiring much room. During your trek days, you will have the opportunity to practice yoga in an open space surrounded by hills and the majestic Himalayas. This serene setting amidst mountains and beautiful valleys adds to the relaxation and calming experience of your yoga practice.

  • What kind of Yoga will we do during this trip?

Yoga experts say there are several varieties of Yoga for diverse physical, mental, and emotional circumstances. These criteria determine a person's ideal yoga style. You can also practice breathing and gentle Hatha Yoga. This style of yoga is easier than others and requires less physical fitness. During your hike, stretch lightly. It's vital to release muscle tightness after walking 4-8 hours. These include joint yoga, breath control, Hatha Yoga, and soothing positions. Focus on breathing during the walk. Altitude sickness is considerably reduced.

  • When will we do Yoga during the trek to the Annapurna?

It is recommended to participate in yoga either in the morning before breakfast or in the evening before dinner, as doing yoga before eating is beneficial. During your stay in Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will have ample time in the morning to practice Yoga. However, while trekking and covering longer distances during the day, it would be more suitable to do Yoga in the evening after reaching your destination. This will help relax your muscles and stretch your body.

  • How much time will be provided for Yoga during the trekking days?

During the trek, you will have the opportunity to practice yoga for 15 to 30 minutes each day. This is particularly beneficial as trekking can be physically demanding and you may feel tired from all the walking. During the trek, you will engage in gentle and relaxing Hatha Yoga exercises, including deep breathing and focused attention on your breath. These practices are highly beneficial for trekking, especially when you will be ascending to high altitudes.

  • What kind of accommodation is provided throughout the Annapurna Circuit Yoga Trek?

During your stay in developed city areas like Kathmandu and Pokhara, you will have the opportunity to stay in comfortable and conveniently located hotels that offer exceptional service. However, during your trek to the Annapurna Circuit, there are few great services available, unlike in urban areas, due to its remote and off-the-beaten-path location. During your trek, you will be accommodated at local lodges and teahouses that offer basic amenities. These include comfortable beds, nutritious and diverse organic food options, as well as clean bathroom facilities. Additionally, you have the option to access the internet at an extra cost, following the lodge's policy.

  • Who will teach us Yoga throughout the trek to the mountains?

A certified professional yoga instructor will be with you throughout your trek, starting from the second day of your arrival until the trip concludes. Your yoga teacher will guide the trek, tailoring the yoga practice to the specific situation and location. This ensures that you make the most of your valuable time in the mountains.

  • What kind of equipment do I need to bring for the Yoga trek?

To participate in both trekking and yoga, you will need a few essential items. These include comfortable trekking boots, lightweight walking clothes, a down jacket, trekking poles, a personal hygiene kit (toiletries), and other necessary items. You can find a detailed packing list for trekking in Nepal on the Nepal trekking gear checklist. To practice yoga, it is important to have comfortable, stretchable clothing and a yoga mat that you can use daily.

  • What are the possible challenges during the Yoga trek?

When you trek to the remote areas of Nepal, you may encounter certain challenges, such as a lack of modern services. Please keep in mind that you will be walking to the highlands of Nepal, ascending and descending your way to places situated above 3,000m. During the trek, one of the main challenges to be aware of is altitude sickness, which can occur due to the high elevation. Another challenge to consider is the need to walk continuously for approximately 6-8 hours each day.

  • What permits do I need before going on the Annapurna Circuit Yoga trek?
