Trip Overview

Mohare hill trek is an 11 days cultural eco trek to the Mohare Hill of Annapurna Region. Mohare Hill is also popular by the name Mohare Danda where “Danda” is the translation of Hill in the Nepali language. Meanwhile, the altitude of Mohare Danda is 3,300 meters above sea level. Mohare Danda lies in the Myagdi district of Nepal on the periphery of the Annapurna Conservation Area. An 11 days itinerary of Mohare Hill Trek where you will be exploring one of the best hill stations which are often compared with Poon Hill.

Mohare hill trek is an ideal choice for trekkers willing to travel in less crowded areas with an awesome view of the mountain ranges. Besides that Mohare hill trek is an awesome opportunity to view some of the high mountain ranges including Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. Situated about 3 km away from Poon Hill, The difficulty level of the Mohare Hill trek is moderate. Also popular by the name “Eco Lodge Community Trek” and “Myagdi Community Eco Trek” the Mohare Hill trek passes through beaten trekking trails, beautiful hilltops, forests, rivers, and many more attractive places.

Mohare Hill offers the closest views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. This trail is certainly considered the best choice for the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek. Traveling on the off-beat site of the Annapurna region, bounded by hills, forests of Oaks and Bamboo, and rivers give you a phenomenal experience. Similarly, the rich culture and traditions of the Magar and Gurung communities are also the main highlights of this trek. Mohare Hill Yoga Trek can be done and it is one of the ideal treks with such good spots and views for the yoga trek in Nepal.

There is no specific best season to explore this trek. Mohare Hill is similar to Poon Hill in terms of weather conditions. Autumn and Spring are the best seasons for the Mohare Danda trek. During those months of the year, the sky is clear and the chances of rainfall are low. Morning and late afternoon are the best times of the day at Mohare Hill; amazing sunrise and sunset views over the mountain ranges can be seen.

During March, April, and May the dry season ends in Nepal and is one of the ideal months of the year to explore Mohare Danda. The chance of rainfall is also meager and the sky is clear. The blooming rhododendron flowers throughout the trail make the trek even more wonderful during these months of the year. During September, October, and November the monsoon season ends in Nepal and clear views of the mountain ranges can be seen. Which makes it an ideal month to visit Mohare Danda.

Mohare Danda (Hill)

Mohare Hill is situated southwest of Poon Hill. Meanwhile, there are two ways to reach Mohare Hill. The first one is from Nagi Village and another is from Poon Hill. Mohare Hill is a newly established trekking destination because of that there are few hotels and lodges around this area. At the top of Mohare Hill, there is a single community lodge that is run by the local people. Starting in 2010 Mohare Danda has gained a lot of popularity in recent years by its amazing scenarios and the distance of the trek. The best part of Mohare Hill is that the amazing view of the sunrise and sunset can be seen from the community lodge situated at the top of the hill. Unlike Poon Hill, no further climb is needed to witness the amazing scenario. The view can also be seen while having a meal from the community lodge itself.

Mohare Hill was discovered by backpackers searching for alternatives to Poon Hill. Compared to Poon Hill, Mohare Hill gets comparatively fewer numbers of tourists every year. But in terms of the mountain views that can be seen, it is still better than Poon Hill. The total distance of Mohare Hill trekking in Nepal is about 50 km in total. However, the distance can be different according to the site visit of the places during the trek.

Travel Insurance:

Travel insurance is important before traveling to a new place especially when you are traveling for adventure. Travel insurance covers risks such as loss of personal belongings, and any unexpected expenses. Travel insurance also covers sudden medical emergencies such as accidents. It also covers high-altitude emergency evacuation in case of trekking. Travel insurance is not compulsory but highly recommended.

Medical Emergency:

If you face any serious medical emergency during your trekking program you will immediately evacuate the place through Helicopter Rescue which the traveler’s insurance company will cover. While trekking to the highland of Nepal you may face minor health issues such as scratches, headaches, etc. For such a situation, your guide carries a well-equipped first aid kit, ensuring nothing happens to you.

High-Altitude Sickness:

During the Mohare Hill Trek from Pokhara, you will walk through gorgeous valleys, traditional villages, and thrilling highlands above 2,000m elevation. Altitude sickness is unpredictable; it can happen to anyone despite being physically and mentally fit. As you gain altitude, the chances of getting altitude sickness also slightly increase. To avoid getting altitude sickness you should drink 5-6 lt water per/day and food with high carbohydrates. Walking slowly and acclimatizing decreases the chances of getting altitude sickness. Focus on your breathing and maintain your walking pace.

Having a good backpack and necessary gear makes trekking easier. It becomes more important if you are trekking at higher elevations. If you are wondering about what to pack for trekking to the Annapurna region, then you can check our complete guide on Nepal Trekking Gear Checklist.
